Busy, busy!!!

A while ago, Alex brought me flowers and chocolate just because!!!
Then the next day he brought me more chocolate and a movie date. I'm so spoiled!!




I learned how to do the outside crocheting stitch on baby blankets. I think my first attempt turned out pretty good.


















On Saturday night, Alex and I wanted to play games with anyone....friends/neighbors/whoever was available. Well, after being turned down by 4 different couples, we decided to forget playing games, so we drew up some plans for shoe shelves and we went to Home Depot.














Before: This is what our closet and shoe situation looked like before. (We found that little unclaimed shelf thing and have been using it for a while, but it always got super messy and we could never find a matching pair of shoes.) So.........














After: We built these!!!! Custom made pine shelves for our shoes. Plus an extra shelf for our accumulated baby things (including the fantastic orange purse I'm going to use as a diaper bag). :)

We were just using a hand saw to cut the boards to the right size and Alex's table saw to make them all the right width. Then, lucky for us, some new neighbors came to investigate what we were doing. He said, "I have a chop saw if you want to use it." WHAT? Here? In these apartments? You just happen to have a chop saw? Sure enough, he went inside and came back with a high-tech, fancy chop saw. In no time we were able to get all the pieces cut to the right size and all that was left was the assembly. Thanks again Daniel and Melissa Roberts. We would have been there all night!

I was also going to post a picture of what I look like being 18 weeks pregnant. I tried to get Alex to take a picture of me but I was either not showing enough, or I was forcing it to stick out too much (which is not what I look like). It didn't work. So, maybe we'll try for 19 week pictures!!

I have to brag...

...because this kind of thing doesn't happen very often.

Yeah that says 100% on my calculus exam.  I don't remember this kind of thing since high school.

More Dollhouse things (Because of Merilee)

Merilee suggested that we make pasta things for our dollhouse jars.  I had actually already thought about that but wasn't quite sure how I was going to do that.  I saw a YouTube video where someone used something that was like a see-through-ish clay but I have never seen such things they spoke of.  I used real spaghetti noodles!  I must say I'm amazed at the strength of them.  They are strong noodles.  I used the Dremel to grind/sand them down to 1/32" because they would look way too big if I didn't.  So about 2 hours and 4 noodle sticks later, here's what I have:

I really didn't plan on making spaghetti anytime soon but I couldn't not take on the challenge!

Oh yeah, I also made them a clock (of course it really works)!  My mom gave us one of her old watches and I cut the nubs for the band off.  If you have any old watches you're thinking of throwing out... save them for us please!  I plan on making a grandfather clock with a slightly smaller one if I can find one and others.

Also... I just thought I would throw this in for those who desire to see it.  I made a flash video in high school and it is kinda silly.  To see it click here.  This wasn't my finished version because my name changed to a rainbow color and there were more action things, and another fish, etc.  (It will keep replaying, so don't let it keep replaying until you're sick!)

Little Dollhouse Things We've Made

So we've been pretty into making real little things for our dollhouse that we bought.  Too bad our apartment is too small to be able to build our dollhouse yet.  It will be fun when we actually get to do it though.  So far here are some of the really cool things we've made:

There are little soap bars... yes they are real soap, cotton balls, rock collection, gumballs, tissues (best of all... just see the video below), toilet paper, paper towels, and even real carpet... still in progress as you can see and it takes a very long time.

If anyone has any ideas of little things we could put in the jars that appear like something else etc. feel free to tell us about them.  We want to put spices in them but to be the right size for most spices they would have to be nearly obliterated.
