Kristen's Explorer Poem

A very long time ago Kristen wrote a song for her students learning about Explorers.  We always wanted to upload the poem but never could figure it out.  I just found a way for us to be able to do it!  You'll probably have to turn up the volume a little bit because she was so far away from the microphone when we recorded it. Click here to listen to it!  It was all made possible by DropBox which is really cool and you all should sign up for it!

Our Schedules for mom

Alex:

Kristen:
Don't count on these always being our schedules because we sometimes have a class that gets canceled but it's a pretty good estimate.  Sorry about the formatting issues I had with the lines disappearing in many places... I thought they were all fixed but they weren't.

We're slow, but here's a new post!!!

This was from a long time ago, but my class/school was having a crazy hair day. I think I was the only adult in the building who participated!!

We are really bad with our camera. New Year's Resolution=take more pictures!! We spent 2 weeks at both families houses over Christmas break and the only pictures we took were of Mom and Dad (Thornbrue) opening their Christmas presents from us.

What could it be?

Building suspense.......

New sleeping bags!!!!!!!!! These ones might actually keep mom warm when we are camping. And dad's old sleeping bag is probably 50 years old. They are both really excited to go camping now. But I think we'll wait until it's at least a little bit warmer!

We had a GREAT Christmas! Mom and Dad Thornbrue gave us a really nice keyboard. We had to rearrange quite a few things in our house to make it fit, but we LOVE it. I have actually been able to play a piano and practice. It is wonderful!! (Forgive the music, gloves, and homework on the floor and my craft supplies on the couch. Our house usually has a million projects going at the same time). Oh yeah, we also added the bench, headphones, and sustaining pedal to make playing the keyboard easier and more quiet!!!

I went to a Relief Society craft night and learned how to crochet these cute flowers. They can be 2 layers or 3 layers and have a different color inside circle, etc. I made the black/blue one there, came home and made 2 more. The next day I experimented with making 3 layered ones, and then I made the black/white one to wear on Sunday. I just hot-glued a piece of felt onto the back and then added the clip. I think they are kind of fun!!

Well, that's it for our life lately. School started again and even though I have finished the elementary education program, I am still taking more classes. I figured that as long as I have financial aid and get paid to go to school, I might as well take advantage of it. I also wanted to try and get some fun classes, since it has been so long since taking anything fun. First of all I am taking an Educational Linguistics class (that helps with teaching ESL students), then Intro to Landscape Architecture because it sounded interesting, Balancing Work and Family, Kickboxing, Billiards, and Band. It is going to be an interesting semester, but hopefully fun and worth it. Alex has Calc II, Physics, Ecology of our Changing World, and Billiards (with me). It is fun to have a class together again. Dad, you better watch out when we play pool with you next time. We're learning tons of new tricks and rules.
